Welcome to SU: Legacy, a next-gen Supernatural RP that takes place in the year 2040. The Men of Letters has expanded to include three base locations across the continental US. Angels and demons have gone mostly dormant but there are still supernatural evils lurking in the shadows. The legacies could use your help. Are you in?
Giving credit where credit is due. A big thank you to all the coders at PBS and various resource sites for any codes, plug-ins and templates.
Thanks to Nick @ Fidelius for the fabulous mini-profile. Everything else was created by our own staff. If we missed someone please let us know.
We don't own Supernatural, we just enjoy it's awesomeness. Thanks Eric Kripke for creating it, all the writers/producers for putting out a great show and the CW for keeping it on the air for almost 10 years now!
You're a What, Now? a little something about character types
So you want to make a unique character. Something epic and badass that we haven’t seen before. Awesome. Good idea.
But, here’s the thing. You don’t have to make an entirely different species we’ve never even heard of, or an offshoot of a species we’ve seen that’s just different enough to mess with our heads when we go to kill it. You know, a vampire that likes to sunbathe when every other vampire we know hates the sun. A werewolf that doesn’t shift on the full moon when all of its buddies do. There are plenty of ways to make your character unique and interesting without throwing a wrench in the universe.
Back in the day, before we revamped the site, we were a little lax on what species we let in. If you had something that didn’t really fit the canon of the show, but it was well thought out and interesting, we said, “Why not?” and let it in. But, that method bit us in the ass down the line. So, when we reopened the site we decided not to allow any species we haven’t seen in the show. It’s not because we hate originality and want to annoy you by making you retool your awesomely badass unique character. It’s because…
Okay, it’s like this. Say you’re house-sitting, or your parents are out of town for the weekend. You know you should be responsible and stick to watering the plants and making sure the cat doesn’t die. But, you decide, “You know, I’ve had a rough week. I need to blow off a little steam.” So you call a few friends over. Nothing crazy, just a couple low-key people, maybe a couple of beers. But then your buddy’s girlfriend wants to come, too, and you know her and she’s cool so you let her in. But then she brings her best friend, who brings her boyfriend. And you can’t say no when the boyfriend wants to bring his buddy over when you said okay to everybody else. Next thing you know the pool’s full of Jell-O and your neighbors are calling the cops.
The moral of the story: if you say yes to one non-canon thing, it’s hard to say no to somebody else without being unfair. But, the fact is not every non-canon species is going to fit in here. And if we break the rules for one of you, we have to break the rules for everybody, and then you have chaos. “If he gets up, we’ll all get up. It’ll be anarchy!”
What, you never saw The Breakfast Club?
Okay. That was a little long-winded, but here’s the basic gist: we’re not accepting any non-canon species at this time. If it hasn’t been seen on the show, we’re not going to consider it canon and we’re not going to approve it. If you want to make something we don’t see every week on the show, do a little digging. Take a look at one of the Supernatural wikis and find something cool that they’ve only touched on once or twice. Or give your character an interesting backstory or a well-rounded personality. There are plenty of ways to make a unique character without having to bend the laws of nature here.
We understand some of you may be disappointed, particularly those who played a unique species in the old version of SU and now have to make major changes to the character to play them again. But, there are plenty of interesting character types for you to choose from that are canon to the show and we’re happy to work with you if you’re having trouble finding a fitting species for your character. If you have any questions, leave us a note in the Metallicar. But don't scratch her up.
