Travelling around America, going wherever she wanted, Alexis stuck to places that were in the open. Large towns seemed to be a big favourite with her and as much as she enjoyed it, it got very boring, incredibly quick.
***
New York City. The Big Apple.
Her eyes were wide, staring at her new surroundings in a child like wonder. She was standing in the middle of times square being jostled about by businessmen and women and it was ten o'clock at night, only confirming that New York City is indeed the city that never sleeps. Ever.
Alexis quickly snapped out of her sight seeing and took it upon herself to go exploring, not caring about the time of night or whether she would get lost. She always finds her way back and it's not as if she can't fight.
She quickly crossed the busy roads and wondered down different streets and avenues, cutting through alley ways and had fun aggravating the drunks and avoiding the homeless people pissing against the wall when the urge to just run wildly took over every other need. It took a couple of breaths and time to clear her head before that need was extinguished and she made a quick exit from the alley and took in her surroundings.
It was darker here, little to no businesses were around and...Her head tilted up and her nose wrinkled slightly as she smelled the air. Underneath the pollution, the rotting rubbish and the stench of piss, a freshness hit her senses and overwhelmed them. It over rode every conscious sensibility and before she knew what she was doing, she shifted into her wolf form, clothes ripped and on the floor around her paws for only a few seconds before she took off at a sprint in the direction of freshness, the smell of it getting stronger.
Alexis can't remember how long it had been since she was in her wolf form and she lost some control, losing it to the animalistic side. The urge to run was so powerful and she could feel it pulling in her flanks. Her tongue lolled out and her paws made a continuous beat on the pavement. She couldn't tell you how long or how far she ran, exactly but it mustn't have been long and she came to an abrupt halt. There in front of her was one of the worlds most famous parks.
Again, with little thought as to who saw her and whether it would be strange for a wolf to be in the city, she darted across the road and bound into the park, revelling in the green grass. She leaped about, darting between the different trees, splashing through puddles when her nose caught a coppery smell. It was too strong to be simple wet metal. Strong enough to be blood.
Her nose was straight to the ground, her tail in the air as full animal instinct took over. She followed it for quite away before she realised it went into a loop and she only stopped when her muzzle hit something and made it wet. Her tongue flicked out and she realised it was blood.
Alexis looked up and her eyes narrowed before they widened in shock. It was a body. Which didn't surprise her because it was New York, after all. She had seen CSI.
What did shock her however was the fact that the body was completely and utterly mauled, so much so that internal organs were now classed as external. It took a lot to make Alexis disturbed and feel sick but in wolf form, her senses were overloaded. The scent of blood and dead flesh stung her nose, burned her eyes and made them water.
She was way too engrossed and disgusted with the body that she didn't notice anything else until a click sounded behind her.
Alexis did what any other animal would, she turned, saw and fled with only one thought penetrating her wolf instinct, 'Shit.'
Neon lights reflected off the sidewalks of Time Square. It area was loud, bustling, and full of life. People of all sorts congregated together. Some were in a hurry to get somewhere. Others were performing in some way hoping that they’d be discovered and their dreams would come true. Tourists took in the sights while bumper to bumper traffic roared with its own symphony of horns and rumbling engines.
New York City. The city that never sleeps.
Sully had that in common with the Big Apple. Well, at least she didn’t sleep well. Her dreams were haunted with memories and nightmares. They were raw and very vivid. She couldn’t seem to shake it or the fear that came along with them. They were slowly but surely taking over and Sully refused to let that happen. She would not live the rest of her life in fear.
Which meant she had to face it.
It wasn’t so long ago that she’d been tortured by skinwalkers. One that took the form of a wolf and the other a coyote. Needless to say she wasn’t fond of anything that could shape shift at the moment. In fact she despised and hated them right down to their core. They were nothing but cold hearted monsters. A fact Sully had seen up close.
She was still slightly underweight, but she was closer to her weight goal. Protein shakes and bars had helped with that along with a strict diet and workout regimen. Despite the new scars and stiffness that often entailed after a vigorous work out, Sully was close to being back to her normal self.
It was hard to carry a bow through New York City. It was big and conspicuous. She opted to leave it in her truck, instead arming herself with two browning 9mm complete with silver bullets. There were also several silver knives that were hidden beneath her clothing. There were two latched to each wrist under the old army jacket she wore, one in her belt buckle, and one attached to each ankle. Maybe it was overkill, but Sully wasn’t about to get captured again or worse.
Up until now she had been avoiding anything that looked like a shady animal attack. Instead focusing on the easier hunts just to get herself back up to par. Unfortunately those hunts did nothing for the fear that was instilled deep within her chest. Sully couldn’t avoid it any longer.
Which is why she was heading towards Central Park in the middle of the night. Three bodies had turned up so far. All of them had mauled by what seemed to be a wolf. All of the animals were accounted for at the zoo and officials were baffled. There were no wolves in Central Park. They had covered the place twice just to make sure.
Sully knew what it was, but she examined the bodies just to make sure. Sure enough, it had the tell tale signs of a werewolf attack. It was what Sully was hoping for and dreading all at the same time.
Each step that carried her closer to the park made her heart pound harder in her chest. Sully could hear the blood roaring in her ears as panic crept into her chest. Her first instinct was to turn on her heel and get the hell out of there. Let some other hunter deal with the case. There were probably several already on it or currently on their way. She didn’t have to do this.
“Yes you do.” She told herself sternly. “Keep moving. You’ve hunted things that were worse than this. You can do this, Sully.”
The mental pep talk didn’t do anything to stop the fear coursing through her veins. Her breath was a little too quick for her liking and she forced herself to calm down. Sully needed to stay focused if she was going to get out of this alive.
The park was mostly deserted. People were steering clear until they found out just what was causing all these unusual deaths. Sully for a moment had faith that not all of humanity was stupid. Except for apparently the remains of the guy who was mauled to death on the ground. The werewolf was standing over his body and Sully’s gaze narrowed.
“Heartless fucking bastards.”
She could have said it out loud, but instead just pulled her gun, cocking it. The wolf had keen hearing and quickly tore off into the night before she could get a shot off.
“Son of a bitch!” Sully tore off after it. She moved through the park, stealthily in the night, but it was nothing compared to the wolf speed of movements. She couldn’t let it get away. Sully stopped while she still had the wolf in her sights and aimed the gun. The shot resounded into the night and she only hoped, it hit her intended mark.
As soon as she'd seen the gun, she leaped over the body and ran, hearing the faint 'son of a bitch'. Her heart was pounding and she willed her legs to go faster. Her tongue was lolling out of her mouth as she tried to suck in more air when she heard the gun go off and a searing pain went through her leg and caused her to tumble to the floor, howling in pain.
She'd been shot. It wasn't the first time but it stung like a bitch but it was a pain that the wolf had become accustomed to. This was because Alexis walked the very fine line between good and evil and got hits from both sides, however, it had been a while since she pissed someone off. The only reason she could come up with as to why someone was shooting at her, was the fact that they thought she mauled the body. But even then, you don't see to many nice girls walking around New York, late at night and with a gun. The woman screamed hunter.
Alexis scrambled to her feet and let out whimpers of pain as she hobbled as fast as she could to safety. She would change back into her human form but that was risky. Anybody could be around now that a gun was fired and also because her clothes were else where.
She turned a corner and saw an opening, an exit from the park and aimed for it. She stuck to the shadows, hoping to blend in in case the hunter was following her and it wasn't until she only reached halfway that she realised that she was losing energy very quickly, hindering her progress.
The pain eventually became overwhelming and she just stopped and lay on the floor. Alexis turned to look at her wound and saw that it had hit her right in the flank and blood was pouring out.
Her energy was waning and she felt herself about to pass out. It worried her only a little because when she loses energy, she turns back into her human form. A Naked female lying next to a hedge in Central Park. Not the best place to be and it left her vulnerable.
Alexis' vision was getting hazy and her breathing was getting shallower. Her ears twitched at the crunching of leaves but the next thing she knew was blackness.
The sound of the wolf getting hit was like music to Sully's ears. It was a sweet melody that she could play over and over again. It would never get tiresome. Maybe that was cruel or cold hearted, but that didn't bother her one bit. The bastard got what she deserved.
Still breathing heavy, Sully forced herself towards the whimpering sounds at a steady jog. She could have taken off at a dead run, but then she'd be even more winded than she was by the time she reached the wolf. Besides, at this pace she could keep her eyes peeled better. The wolf could be playing possum, and Sully had no desire to turn furry once a month. In fact she'd probably put a bullet in her head if that were the case.
As she got closer, Sully slowed her jog to a calculated walk. Her steps light, moving as quiet as possibly, gun aimed, ready to pull the trigger at a moments notice. The bitch had been going for the exit. It wasn't a smart move. Wolf running around on the crowded streets of New York City. Doubtful she'd be killed on sight unless she attacked. More like tranquilized until they could find out if she was the same wolf that mauled those people. It would be amusing to see her locked in a cage, but Sully felt it would be a disgrace to the real wolves.
Sully dropped her hands, arms still stiff, gun now pointing at the ground. It would be bad if some random person came into the park for a midnight stroll and saw Sully aiming her guns. Police would be called, violence would ensue. It would be bad all around and really Sully just didn't feel like dealing with it.
As she moved over she heard something crinkle in the brushes. Leaves rustling maybe. More likely it was the wolf hobbling away. She jerked around the bushes, her gun steady and aimed. Sully sucked in a breath.
It was an odd experience, watching a wolf change back into human form. Her body seemingly swallowed the fur until smooth skin was left behind. Her fingers elongated even as her body shrunk back to it's normal size, the claws retracting until they were nothing but smooth normal nails. Blood was still smeared across her body. It was silver. She'd heal slower.
Sully thought it was best that the girl was sleeping. She wouldn't feel a thing. She pointed the gun at her heart. Her hands were shaking. Sully hadn't noticed that before. All she had to do was pull the trigger. A gentle squeeze of her index finger.
It was proving to be hard. It shouldn't be. It was.
Grinding her teeth Sully reaimed the gun as if it would give her the courage of what needed to be done. The world be better off without another werewolf on the streets. Especially one that was mauling people.
Her finger had began to squeeze, when she heard another howl in the night. She spun around looking, eyes searching the darkness. There were two of them?
Alexis desperately clawed her way out of the darkness, everything coming back to her at such speed, it felt as if she were hit by a freight train. Her eyes snapped open and a small scream reluctantly passed her lips.
Her hands immediately went down to clutch at her thigh in hoped to stop or relieve the pain. Her hands quickly became coated in her own blood and had a hard time trying to keep a firm grip on her thigh.
Alexis shivered in the cold, it only having registered briefly through the pain. It was only the searing hotness in her leg that took all of her focus, so it took a while for her to even notice the woman above her, pointing a gun in her direction and half expected the woman to make eye contact and pull the trigger and closed her eyes, in hopes that she would make it quick. They reopened again after the woman, maybe a hunter, maybe a vengeful family member, was unable to do so. It seemed as if she were having an internal conflict that she was struggling greatly with.
The howl of another wolf made her flinch and try to shuffle under the hedge for protection. She was in no shape or form to go gallivanting about, tracking the wolf down to stop his murder spree. In all likeliness, the wolf would have found her anyway, the scent of fresh blood is an incredibly powerful smell.
When she noticed that the woman hadn't moved, she croaked out, "I suggest you run or take chase."
The girls sudden words had Sully swinging her gun back around to the closes threat. It had been stupid of her to take her eyes of the werewolf. The woman could have easily jumped her, but at the same time she obviously had a partner.
Her gaze narrowed at the words. This was some sort of game to them. The other was trying to distract Sully from shooting the already injured werewolf in front of her.
"Why?" Venom dripped from her words. They were filled with hate and malice. "So you can get a clean get away? That's the point of your little friend distracting me right?"
Why was Sully even asking these questions? Why didn't she just pull the fucking trigger. The deep seeded fear was still there, but she had a steady hand on her gun. The girl didn't look like a killer, but then again most people that were killers, didn't.
There was a dilemma though. If Sully shot this one, putting it out of hers and everyone elses misery, the other one might disappear or go on a murderous rampage for revenge. It would be better to use her as bait.
Scowling Sully took off her jacket. Scars littered her arms, the most noticeable being the raised claw marks on her shoulders. The right was considerably more noticeable than the left. The shadows from the dark hid a lot of it, and while she might get a few glances as they moved back to Sully's truck, a naked woman would definitely draw more unwanted attention.
"Put it on." She was tempted to kick the woman, but the wolf was bleeding and Sully needed to make sure she could walk.
The sudden movement of her hostage taker had Alexis flinching violently and winced when her sudden movement caused a twig to stick into the soft fleshy area just above her bum. It made her realise how incredibly naked she was and although it didn't embarrass her, it only reiterated her vulnerability.
"Why? So you can get a clean get away? That's the point of your little friend distracting me right?"
Alexis snorted and glared at the woman, "You're kidding right. How far do you think I would get with a silver bullet wound? I'm damned lucky it isn't embedded and that it hadn't hit the main artery." Her temper had started to flare slightly, the accusation in the questions prompting her to push herself up right. "Sweetheart, I haven't been in New York five minutes and I've discovered a body, been shot and been accused of being in cahoots with another wolf."
She gave her a long hard look. "Besides, if I were to do the killing, I'd be more classy about it, I wouldn't have entrails lying everywhere and I wouldn't leave the body in plain sight."
Alexis noted the scars straight away. It was difficult not to notice them with normal human vision but with her enhanced senses, she saw each scar, still raised, some still looking raw and looking all the more like claw marks. The she wolf had more sense to blatantly stare or mention them and instead chose to eye the jacket distastefully,"Oh, you've gone all Good Samaritan, on me. How lovely."
"Put it on."
Lex let out a huff of air and swung the jacket quickly around her shoulders and slid her arms into the arm holes and smirked, "Just to let you know, sweetheart. If I did kill anybody, I would pull it off with a lot more finesse and subtlety. I wouldn't leave the corpses in plain sight either, I like to make people challenges."
In hind-sight, that probably wasn't the wisest thing to say to a woman who has you looking down a barrel but she couldn't help it. The woman had some nerve to compare her to butchers, to philistines, to wolves who clearly have no class.
She'd had enough of being in the submissive position, if anything, she was dominant, she was the alpha and there was no way in hell she was going to be looking up any more. It took her a while but she eventually struggled to her feet, using the bush to help her up. Her weight was more on her uninjured leg, but at least she was up and finally realised how cool it was outside and the only way she could do the jacket up was to put weight down evenly. In doing so she let out a hiss of pain before she looked up and glared at her 'acquaintance'.
"I'm gonna go out on a whim here and say you're a hunter."
"You're kidding right. How far do you think I would get with a silver bullet wound? I'm damned lucky it isn't embedded and that it hadn't hit the main artery."
Sully rolled her eyes. Of course the wolf was going to act like she couldn’t get away if she wanted too. Try to get Sully to let her guard down. It wasn’t going to work. Letting her guard down would turn somehow end with Sully getting hurt.
Even now while this woman was spouting off at the mouth, Sully was keeping an eye on her surroundings making sure the womans partner didn’t come out of the dark. Even with one of them injured Sully would be out numbered. It would put her in a tight spot. One she would instinctively get out of at all costs. Without being bitten to boot. "Sweetheart, I haven't been in New York five minutes and I've discovered a body, been shot and been accused of being in cahoots with another wolf."
Sully smiled baring teeth. “If the muzzle fits…”
The long hard look made Sully get her bearings back and as much as she would have liked to return it there was still the problem of another abomination out in the wood works. Sully wasn’t so easily going to focus on just one of them.
"Besides, if I were to do the killing, I'd be more classy about it, I wouldn't have entrails lying everywhere and I wouldn't leave the body in plain sight."
Sully rolled her eyes. “Just get dressed.”
"Oh, you've gone all Good Samaritan, on me. How lovely."
This woman was annoying as hell. It disgusted Sully that her jacket was touching the other woman's skin. She would have to wash it repeatedly before she wore it again. Even if the woman hadn’t been a werewolf her sardonic attitude was enough to make Sully want to shoot her anyways.
"Just to let you know, sweetheart. If I did kill anybody, I would pull it off with a lot more finesse and subtlety. I wouldn't leave the corpses in plain sight either, I like to make people challenges."
“Save the self righteous I’m better than other werewolves speech. You’re just as bad as the rest. You’re all flea bitten mongrels from the depths of hell.” She smiled sweetly at the woman.
Harsh truths. Sully figured that if this woman was living in a delusional state of mind where she still thought she was human, well the hunter should help her in rectifying that. Acting all self righteous when Sully found her hovering over the body. It was pathetic.
Sully just wanted to get the bitch to put on the jacket so they could get the hell out of the open. It was not a good place to be. It left her open for an ambush and if there was a second wolf out there, well who knows if they actually ran in packs or not. Sully didn’t want to stick around to find out. "I'm gonna go out on a whim here and say you're a hunter."
“Bully for you Einstein. Was it really that easy to tell?” She widened her eyes dramatically, words thick with sarcasm. “How about a little less talk and more moving. Yeah?” She nodded towards the gun, reminding the wolf that she was in charge in this little dance. “Let’s go.”
The wolf rolled her eyes and kept a steady gaze on the hunter and, more importantly, her weapon. Yes, she was cocky, to the point that it was dangerous but she was still tense and immensely aware of the weapon containing silver.
Alexis smirked at the woman's disgust and deliberately held the coat closer to her body. She knew she was playing with fire but if the opportunities were there, she was going to take them.
“Save the self righteous I’m better than other werewolves speech. You’re just as bad as the rest. You’re all flea bitten mongrels from the depths of hell.”
Another bout of pain shot through her leg and she clenched her teeth together in order to stop crying out as she didn't want to give the hunter more ammunition against her. "The words 'I'm better than other werewolves' never passed my lips. You're probably right about being as bad as the rest but there are a couple of things you got wrong. One, I don't have fleas, never have and never will. Two, I'm not from hell. I'm from a lovely little place in England but what can I say, you're a hunter and nine times out of ten add two and two together and end up with five."
“How about a little less talk and more moving. Yeah?...Let’s go.”
"It would help if you told me where we were going so I could move." Regardless of what she said, Alexis slowly started to hobble towards the exit, assuming that's where bitch number one wanted to go. To tell you that each step hurt would have been an understatement. Every step she took, every time pressure was put on her injured leg, her face contorted into a grimace of pain. Alexis knew that it would take twice as long as normal for her leg to heal but it didn't stop her from hoping that the silver bullet rule wouldn't apply to her.
Her progress was slow but Alexis slowed down even more just to piss off the woman. "You gonna tell me your name or do i just call you 'hunter'?"
The wolf was hobbling. It was going to take twice as long to get to Sully's truck. Reaching over she roughly grabbed the woman by the arm, keeping the gun pressed up against her side, but hidden between their two bodies. Luckily her truck wasn't far. They just needed to get out of the park.
Ignoring the question of where they were going, kept hold on the other woman's arm. The first step was getting out of the park. The exit was nearby, but werewolves could move quick. Another howl pierced the night. A shiver slipped down Sully's spine. She had thought, by the research she'd done, that it had only been one wolf. She should have come prepared to face two. Or at least made sure she had back up.
Sully imagined that the concrete sidewalks wouldn't be kind on her companions feet. That wasn't her problem though. Anywhere else in the world and the woman would have looked out of place wearing an oversized army jacket and no shoes. In New York though, everything was a style.
That suited Sully just fine. No one even seemed to notice them as they moved into the crowd. Poor bastards had no idea that they were walking amongst werewolves. They were oblivious to the world right in front of their faces. Instead they chose to live in a a dream bubble where scary monsters were nothing more than figment of their imagination. It was people like Sully who made it so most of them could keep that illusion. "You gonna tell me your name or do i just call you 'hunter'?"
"Don't worry about my name, dog breath." She snapped. "It's none of your concern, and it's not like you'll be around long enough to remember it."
Sure threatening the wolf she planned on using as bait probably wasn't the best idea. It didn't give the woman much incentive to cooperate. Though Sully doubted that her companion would have been inclined to do so regardless.
The female wolf jolted slightly as the hunter grabbed her arm suddenly. It didn’t so much as take her off guard, but it did surprise her slightly. The clear disdain the woman had for her, made Alexis think that she would avoid touching her at all costs, “Careful, darling. I bruise easy.”
It was a reflexive thing, aggravating the hunter. She didn’t do it because of the thrills of seeing how far she could push her…okay, it was but it was more to do with the fact that she knew she was I danger. It was worse than fight club because she had some semblance of control but here, she has none.
The odd couple had moved off the grass quite quickly and onto the pavement. It was rough and sharp under her feet but it wasn’t as bad as some of the other things she’s had to walk across barefoot, hot coals and broken glass being just two of them. It didn’t particularly bother her, walking around barefoot, as long as she didn’t step in faeces, it gave her a sense of liberation, so much so she even thought about going to a nudist camp. She only decided not to when she realised she would have to look at other peoples naked bodies all day and she definitely was not under the illusion that everybody had a perfect body. She heard some rustling and a clang to her left and when she looked, she saw a tramp routing through a bin at the exit. He noticed the two women but only stared for a couple of minute before resuming his task of fishing around the rubbish. Apparently, it was true that New Yorkers ignored things that didn't involve them.
"Don't worry about my name, dog breath…It's none of your concern, and it's not like you'll be around long enough to remember it."
Alexis rolled her eyes at the insult, it’s nothing she hadn’t heard before and considering most hunters seem to come with a little book of insults, this one wasn’t very original, “Oh, how you wound me. I suggest you save your breath with the insults as I guarantee that I've heard it.” She chose to ignore the threat on her life only because she was so used to them, they rolled off of her like water off a ducks back.
"Just keep moving. We're almost there."
She trod on a particularly jagged stone and it caused her to lose her footing and grunted in pain as it affected her thigh. With one arm being clutched by her captor, she had no choice but to use the hand on the opposite arm to grip her wound. “Well, when we get to wherever we’re going, do you fancy letting me clean and stitch the wound you inflicted on me, up? I mean what good would I be to you, dead? Assuming of course that you are using me to get to someone else?”
The shewolf knew she sounded more and more likely for the crimes, but she honestly was passed the point of caring anymore. Hunters always see what they want to see, regardless of whether it’s the truth or not.
Sully ground her teeth as they approached the truck. It made a quiet grating like sound. The werewolf bitch could probably hear it. It was probably a good tip to the woman that she was getting on Sully’s nerves. It didn’t surprise Sully that the woman spoke a lot, or that she had superiority complex. The ones who were horrified to find out they were wolves usually didn’t last long. They were the only decent kind of wolves. Whether they died by their own hand, or asked someone to do it for them, at least they didn’t want to live as a monster.
This woman obviously had no problem with what she was. Honestly, she probably didn’t even see herself as a monster. Maybe she thought the curse was a blessing in disguise. Sully didn’t care what the reason was. She had no desire to get into her twisted mind. Sully just wanted to get this hunt over with so she could be on her way.
What had turned into simple had become complicated. The werewolf was right. Sully planned on using her as bait. How she was going to do that, well Sully was still working out the details. If she was working with the other wolf, which more than likely she was, then the woman’s monstrous partner would probably want to save her.
Sully ignored the woman’s quips. She was tempted to punch her in that smart ass mouth, but it would be a waste of energy and they needed to get the hell out of here.
They came upon Sully’s old, tattered blue pick up truck. Sully jerked open the drivers door and shoved the woman in. “Scoot to the passenger’s side.” The gun was in full view now, aimed at the wolf’s head. They say you shouldn’t put your finger on the trigger until you’re ready to pull it. Sully’s finger was on the trigger. If the wolf so much as breathed the wrong way, she’d pull it too. Sully wasn’t taking any chances.
Once they were both inside the truck, Sully started the engine. For once Blue decided it wasn’t going to give her a hassle. Sully was thankful. The engine rattled and tinkered as she pulled out onto the street. For now, she was going to have to take the wolf to her motel until she came up with a plan.
She was getting tired quickly and she wasn't entirely sure if that was anything to do with the loss of blood, though in all likeliness, it was. Alexis noted that the hunter was grinding her teeth together and she couldn't help the slight tug on her lips as it turned into a smirk. That barely there, rough sound was music to her sensitive ears that let her know she was getting to the woman, in fact, it woke her up some and made her all the more determined to get under her skin further.
The hunter, that Alexis decided to call 'Grumpy' was incredibly determined to pin her for the attacks. It wasn't normal for a hunter to be so cut and dry and so calculated in their plans of attack. Most of them were shoot first, ask questions later but Grumpy was different. Something had clearly happened to her that caused her to act like she was. Any normal hunter would have seen Alexis at the body, gave chase and shot her where she lay and would have gone after the other one separately. Grumpy was clearly not in that mind set and it stood to reason that either something traumatic had happened to her or she was just incredibly wise and Alexis thought it was a dangerously healthy mix of both.
It wasn't long until they came to a row of cars, all pretty old and battered, but considering where they were parked, it made sense. Her eyes narrowed as she scanned all of them to try and determine which one would be Grumpy's. None of them seemed to fit her persona or her job until Alexis' eyes landed on a battered blue truck and before her mouth formed to make a snarky comment, she was unceremoniously shoved into it.
"Bloody hell woman, you could be a lot more courteous. God knows you don't want blood smeared all over the inside of this rusty piece of tin."
She settled herself against the door and looked down at her leg. The bleeding had slowed down and what surprised her was the lack of pain. She'd probably just gone numb with it but it was a nice relief.
The noisy truck was relaxing for her somewhat as her head bumped gently against the window and it made her even more sleepy, "So, when we get there, can I sleep? Or get healed? Or both? You know you wouldn't want unexplained blood everywhere."
"Bloody hell woman, you could be a lot more courteous. God knows you don't want blood smeared all over the inside of this rusty piece of tin."
To say that the no named naked werewolf wearing Sully's jacket was getting on her nerves was a complete understatement. The woman was infuriating with her snarky quips. Maybe it was the accent. Maybe it was the fact she was werewolf. Maybe it was the fact that Sully had just found her over a bloody, eaten corpse.
Oh wait, it was all of the above. Either way, Sully pulled the truck into traffic and smacked the woman across the face, using her gun as a wait to make the hit impact more.
"Shut up." Sully forgot to add to the list that the woman had insulted Blue. Sure, the truck was old and in constant need of repair, though that was mainly because Sully kept putting off that tune up she promised it, but it was her truck. It had been her brothers before that.
Hitting the wolf felt good. It pushed back a bit of Sully's fear. She rolled her shoulders, once again aiming the gun at the wolf. She hoped it hurt, but Sully didn't say that out loud. After all, unless the wolf told Sully what the hunter wanted to know, there would probably be more pain to come.
"So, when we get there, can I sleep? Or get healed? Or both? You know you wouldn't want unexplained blood everywhere."
"We'll be gone before the maid comes, don't worry." Sully had of course used an alias to rent the room. No sense in having her name dragged through the mud...or in this case blood. It made things simpler that not many people knew Sully's name.
When they pulled up to the motel, Sully grabbed the wolf by the arm and pulled her across the seat. "Scream and I'll knock you out."
Sully would have preferred to kill the woman, but at the moment she needed her. If only to find out who her partner was. The why was unimportant. They were murderous monsters. There was no 'why' involved.
Jerking the female roughly, Sully lead her into the room.
To say that she wasn't expecting the hit would be a lie, however she didn't expect Grumpy to hit her with the gun and so soon, proving that hunters aren't patient and therefore are reckless enough to run in blind into potentially volatile situations.
Alexis tasted the blood in her mouth and felt it drip out of the corner of her mouth slightly. To spit it out did cross her mind but she didn't want to get hit again because it stung like a bitch. And so she was left with two options, one being she kept it in her mouth, the second swallowing it and as much as it made her cringe and want to heave, she swallowed. The coppery thick liquid coating her tongue and throat, penetrating her senses. In other words, it was vile.
The she-wolf looked up at the other woman and wiped a drop of blood from the corner of her mouth with her thumb. She was staring back down the barrel of the gun and in all honesty, it was getting old. "Are you going to use that gun? If not, put it away because seriously? Your threats are becoming more meaningless everytime you shove it in my face."
Without waiting for her to answer, Lex turned her face away and stared out of the window. She was incredibly pissed off, in pain and was starting to feel tired and the next thing she knew, she was getting man-handled out of the car.
"Scream and I'll knock you out."
Alexis stumbled slightly and struggled to get her footing back on track but still completely ignored her abductor. She knew not to scream because she'd most likely get shot and if someone does arrive to help, they'll question why she has a gun wound, a bloody mouth and why she was naked.
The wolf followed her into the cheap looking motel and realised how convenient it was for people who carry out dodgy dealings and especially for those who are of the supernatural nature...or hunt it. It smelled like urine and drugs and the smell of damp was pungent throughout the whole building.
So distracted with her examination, she hadn't realised they'd made it to the room and when she was roughly dragged into the room, she growled, "Keep your hands off of me if you want to keep your damned fingers." With that, she shrugged her arm out of the other woman's grasp and deliberately sat on her bed. "Now, can I take the jacket off? I have no qualms about wondering around naked but I don't want you to feel uncomfortable."
Lex leveled the woman with a stare to enforce the seriousness of what she had just said. She'd had enough of playing around and annoying the woman, she wanted to be treated with a little respect, not like she was a piece of shit. Her gaze swept over Grumpy and she tilted her head. Something had definitely happened to the skinny woman, something severe to make her lash out and treat the wolf with little to no respect or care.
