Ruby led Sam towards her motel room. With her Mustang stashed behind the motel, her idea to make sure Dean didn't find them until things calmed down, she walked with him to the door, then, sliding the key card in, opened it.

Well, this is in no way how I wanted this night to go...

She looked over at Sam, and took a deep breath. He was so angry, and she felt partly, if not fully, responsible for what had happened. If it hadn't been for her, Dean wouldn't have come in and blown up, and the fight would have never have happened.

" Come on Sam, I need to take a look at you."

She looked up at him, but she saw nothing. He was just like he had been when she had first found him nearly five months earlier. As he spoke, she wondered if this was going to hurt him. She had said before that she didn't want this to happen, but now, after it had, she was amazed at how quickly Sam had defended her against Dean, and fought to protect her. She leaned in close to him, wrapping her arm around him, and lead him into the room.

" Just take a seat on the bed, I'll be right back."

She released him, and smiled at him, but he didn't smile back. His face was just as empty as it had been since they had left the bar.

Walking into the bathroom, she grabbed a rag, soaking it in warm water, then walked back out. She looked at Sam, and wondered what would happen if this caused too much of a rift for he and Dean to handle. Walking over to him, she placed her hand on his arm. He turned to look at her, and she saw the pain in his eyes.

This isn't what I wanted to happen... Never...

She lowered her head as he spoke to her, and sighed. Looking him over, she noticed that the cut above his eyebrow was what seemed to look the worse, as it was bleeding more than his lips or any of the other minor abrasions, so she went to work trying to wipe the blood away.

" I'm...." She looked up at him, sighing lightly. " I'm sorry, Sam..."

Sam couldn't believe what had just happened. He had remained quiet during the drive to Ruby's motel room. One minute he was happy and feeling good, just spending some time with Ruby. The next all Hell is breaking loose and he and Dean were going at each other. Dean had crossed the line but it didn't mean Sam felt right about what he'd done or what had happened. Dean was still his brother, but he couldn't let him get away with that especially when he was drunk off his ass.

Sam just stared off into space a vacant look in his eyes. He really wasn't paying attention to what was going on around him. He could hear Ruby's voice but didn't really register what she was saying. He let her lead him into the room. She guided him to the edge of the bed and wanted him to sit down. As if on automatic pilot he sat. Watching as Ruby went into the bathroom. She came back out just a few moments later with a wet cloth. When she touched his arm he finally turned to look at her.

"Are you alright?"

He asked her quietly. She hadn't really gotten involved in the fight. Sam tried to keep her out of it. So physically she seemed fine. But, he didn't know how she was feeling. As she started to clean up the cut over his eye she looked up at him and said softly.

"I'm.... I'm sorry, Sam..."

Sam sighed heavily and looked into her eyes. He reached up and touched her cheek.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. Dean... he shouldn't have..."

Letting his hand slide down her cheek, then traced down along her jawline.

She cleaned the blood around his brow, and as it cleared away, she noticed the cut was very minor. She was relieved he wasn't hurt too bad, but it wasn't the physical damage she was worried about, but the emotional.

When she heard him sigh, she looked into his eyes. She smiled sadly at him as his hand came up and touched her cheek. She started to speak, to try to apologize again, but he spoke before she could.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. Dean... He shouldn't have..."

She closed her eyes as his hand slid down her cheek, tracing her jawline. She brought her hand up and wrapped it around his, sighing. She wanted so bad to kiss him, but it was not there. She couldn't do it, he was too upset, she knew it.

" Sam, I have a lot to be sorry for." She opened her eyes, gazing into the deep hazel of his. " I was worried from the begining something like this would happen."

She squeezed his hand lightly, taking a deep breath.

" Dean is a dick, and I'm not really a fan of his, but he is your brother." She felt that odd feeling again, like she was going to start tearing up. " You told me not to at first, but I think it's time for me to back off."

She felt a tear slide down her cheek, and it felt so strange to her. Like liquid fire sliding down her cheek. It wasn't supposed to happen, it wasn't supposed to be there. She WASN'T human.

" I think it'd be best. I don't want to come between the two of you. I know how important Dean is to you, Sam." She looked firmly into his eyes, trying not to show any emotions, but it was too late. " If I'm not around, Dean won't be angry, and you can both do what you do, and be happy."

Sam watched her as she spoke. She was putting the blame all on herself. Feeling guilty. When she said she thought she should back off. That it would be the best, she didn't want to come between him and Dean, Sam narrowed his eyes as he looked at her.

"No."

He said simply and firmly. Sam was not going to let Dean do this. Ruby was right, Dean was being a dick and that needed to stop. At least as far as Ruby was concerned. Sam understood that Dean had been through a lot. More than he could ever comprehend. But, he was being just selfish and out of line. Sam understood that Ruby and Dean would never be friends but they were going to have to find a way to tolerate each other. Sam was NOT going to be forced to make that choice. And he wasn't going to let Ruby make the choice for him by backing away from him.

Sam saw the tear slide down her face as she continued to talk. He closed his eyes and shook his head for a moment. This wasn't right. He reached up and brushed the tear away with his thumb.

"Dean is just angry. Honestly, I don't think it really has that much to do with you. You're just a convenient target for him. You're leaving isn't going to relieve his issues right now. I don't want you to leave."

Gently taking her by the shoulders he moved her so she was facing him directly. Kneeling down on the floor in front of him.

"I don't want you to go."

He looked into her eyes, wanting her to see the meaning in them. See the truth. Then he pulled her close to him and kissed her. His lips against hers, he could feel the warmth of her body so close to his. The kiss was soft but deep and meaningful. At that moment all he could think about was being with her.

Ruby had heard him speak as she was, a firm NO. But, it hadn't sopped her. She had to say it, and when she had finished she closed her eyes, feeling the tear burn down her cheek. As she sat there, her eyes closed, she felt his thumb graze her cheek, wiping the tear away.

" Dean is just angry."

She opened her eyes, looking at him. Listening to him. She knew it was her. Dean hated her, and he didn't want Sam to be with her. He was denying that fact, but she believed it.

" Honestly, I don't think it really has that much to do with you. You're just a convenient target for him. You're leaving isn't going to relieve his issues right now. I don't want you to leave."

She sighed, then looked away from him. She was unable to face him at the moment. She couldn't. Whether he believed it or not, she was sure that without her, he would probably be happier.

" Sam, it would be..."

Before she could finish, she felt his large hands wrap around her shoulders. Then, she felt him turn her towards him. He moved her so that she was kneeling in front of him, looking directly into his swirling hazel eyes.

"I don't want you to go."

She stared into his eyes. She saw it there, something she wasn't sure she recognized. But she did. She knew that look. The feelings in it. She felt like she couldn't breathe anymore. Like someone was choking her.

" Sam..."

She hadn't meant for his name ot come out like that, but it came out in a soft moan. Then he pulled her close to him and kissed her. She was shocked at it, but soon was kissing back. She moved closer to him, the heat of their bodies colliding. It was a soft kiss, but it was deep, both of this expressing their passion in a different way than ever before. She felt desire overtake her, and soon her hands found their way to his abs.

Quickly, she pulled away from him, moving away, standing with her back to him. She couldn't do this. She couldn't take advantage of him, not when he was upset, not this time.

Every time she tried to speak, it was like something stopped her. She didn't want to push him away, truth was, she wanted to be with him more than anything, but was it really what he wanted?

Sam felt Ruby's reluctance at first but then she gave in and was kissing him back just as intently. His arms snaked around her body, letting his hands slip under her shirt gliding along her lower back. He felt her hands run up his stomach, he sucked in a gasp of breath and he couldn't help it when a low groan of desire came from deep in his throat.

Then without warning she suddenly stopped, got up and walked away from him. Turning around so her back was to him. Sam took some deep breaths and it took him a minute to compose himself. His heart was racing. He watched her but she remained silent for what seemed like a long time, though only a minute had probably passed. When she finally spoke she didn't turn around to look at him and she spoke in almost a whisper.

"Sam... We ca..... We shouldn't do this.... No matter how much...."

Sam got up from the bed and moved to her in two steps. He took her shoulders and turned her around to face him. Looking down into her eyes he smiled.

"What is it... Are you thinking it's wrong... and it's bad... and you shouldn't?"

Sam let a slight smirk cross his lips before he grabbed Ruby around the waist and pulled her to him again. Kissing her hungrily. Not giving her a chance to protest he slid his hands under her shirt and lifted it up over her head. Then he leaned back in and started kissing her again. Letting his fingers lightly trace down her spine.

Ruby stood in the silence of the room, listening to Sam's deep breaths, longing to be with him, kissing him, touching him. Every part of her ached to be with him. She heard Sam move, and part of her feared he was going to leave.

Then, in an instant, he was behind her, and had once again taken her by the shoulders and pulled her around to face him. She looked into his eyes, which were gazing into hers, and felt her entire being quiver when he smiled.

"What is it... Are you thinking it's wrong... and it's bad... and you shouldn't?"

Then I am numb - then I just disappear...

She watched his smirk, and couldn't help but do the same. He was using the same line she had used to convince him their first time. She gazed into his eyes, desire radiating off of her, and felt every bit of worry and denial of what she wanted fade away, until all that was left was SAM.

Then, she moaned when she felt him grab her around the waist, and pull her to him, their bodies tight against one another. She looked up at him, then, they practically attacked each other, kissing hungrily.

She let out a primal groan, full of desire, and she felt as if a jolt of electricity was coursing through her entire body as his hand slid under her shirt, pulling it up over her head. Before she could react though, he was kissing her again, and she was scratching down his back as his fingers rubbed down her spine.

Sam felt the heat rising inside of him as her finger nails ran down his back. She pushed him back to sit on the bed and he didn't resist. There kissing became more passionate, his tongue sliding in to meet hers. They lips parted when she pulled his shirt up over his head. Then her hands found his pants and suddenly he was kicking the pants off and across the room. He let out a groan of passion and wrapped his arms around her and fell back on the bed bringing her on top of him.

His hands wandered. Sliding down her soft skin. down her hips, to the small of her back. He let his fingers slip under the waist band of her pants. He sucked in a breath and broke away from the kiss but moved to kissing her neck. Nuzzling and nibbling the soft skin, down her shoulder.

Ruby broke away from the kiss again, smiling at Sam. She pulled the zipper of his jeans down slowly, grinning evilly. She started to pull his pants down, slowly. But, Sam apparently wasn't into teasing, and he soon had his pants of himself and had kicked them across the room.

Looking up into his eyes hungrily, she ran her nails sensuously up his bare legs, grinning as he groaned in pleasure. Then, before her fingers could move up anymore, his arms where wrapped around her and he had pulled her onto the bed on top of him.
