Welcome to SU: Legacy, a next-gen Supernatural RP that takes place in the year 2040. The Men of Letters has expanded to include three base locations across the continental US. Angels and demons have gone mostly dormant but there are still supernatural evils lurking in the shadows. The legacies could use your help. Are you in?
Giving credit where credit is due. A big thank you to all the coders at PBS and various resource sites for any codes, plug-ins and templates.
Thanks to Nick @ Fidelius for the fabulous mini-profile. Everything else was created by our own staff. If we missed someone please let us know.
We don't own Supernatural, we just enjoy it's awesomeness. Thanks Eric Kripke for creating it, all the writers/producers for putting out a great show and the CW for keeping it on the air for almost 10 years now!
There's a new thing we're going to be trying we're calling the Monster of the Moment. We're hoping it will give the board a monster of the week feel similar to the show. We're still working the kinks out, so the first monster will be played by yours truly to iron out the wrinkles. When we start accepting new monsters we'll let you all know.
Introduction:
One of the things Supernatural has become known for is its monsters of the week: random baddies Sam and Dean come across in their travels as they hunt down the big baddies they're actually looking for. The wendigo in the season 1 episode "Wendigo," the djinn in "What is and What Should Never Be," etc. We've decided to incorporate monsters like this on the board, except if we did it every week we'd all be falling asleep at our keyboards and neglecting our jobs and families with the amount of fast and furious RP'ing we'd have to do. So, our baddies are going to be monsters of the moment instead. Our goal is for there always to be some villain hanging around for other villains to work with and for hunters to hunt. These characters won't be as fully fledged as our regular characters, nor will they be as permanent. But they'll be important and they'll see a lot of action.
How It Works
Anyone will be allowed to apply for a monster of the moment. Sometimes we'll post our own ideas for monsters for members to pick up, but if you have an idea of your own you can absolutely pitch it to us.
If you have your own idea, simply fill out the special Monster of the Month Application (currently unavailable) and PM it to the Metallicar account. We will review your application and get back to you with any required revisions. Once you get the go-ahead to play your monster, you can start scouting for victims! Or allies if your monster's a team player.
A small piece of information about your creature will be made available for all to see, as a starting clue for hunters and researchers to pick up on. Thread with whoever you like, and do as many threads as you like. However, you must reveal new information about your monster in every thread that will help the good guys figure out what they're dealing with. Once one of the good guys correctly deduces your monster's identity and figures out its weaknesses, you'll get to do your final thread with your baddie and a canon from the show.
The Showdown:
All final threads will involve one canon and the monster, as a minimum. They may also involve one or two other characters if you wish. The baddie can either be killed off, or their situation can be resolved some other way, if applicable.
Once we all know what we're dealing with, people will have the opportunity to sign up for a role in your showdown thread. Preferably nobody who has already encountered your monster, as they've already played a vital role in the story. Original characters and canons alike may all add their names to the list of interested parties wanting a piece of your creature. The staff will choose which canon your baddie throws down with, and up to 2 original characters to take part in the action.
Our selection process for who gets chosen for what showdown threads will be largely rotation-based. The people we'll consider first will be characters who haven't threaded with this particular monster yet, and have not been involved in any monster of the moment plots. People who haven't gotten a turn at all have first priority.
The Rules:
1. Monsters of the moment are just that: of the moment. Once your creature is found out, you can't start any new threads aside from the showdown with one of the canons. We don't want these bite-size stories to stretch out for eons.
2. If you get attached to your monster and you'd like to continue playing it as a full fledged character after its moment plot is over, that's perfectly fine. Just finish out the showdown thread however you need to in order to keep the monster playable. Then fill out a regular character application for the monster and submit it for approval, like you would any other character.
3. You don't get to pick which canon your monster goes up against. The canons are chosen based on who shows interest in the thread, and who hasn't been involved in a showdown thread yet, or in the longest time.
4. Every thread you do with your monster MUST reveal something useful about your creature, a clue to help other characters figure out what they're dealing with.
5. If you're having trouble completing threads with your monster, let the staff know. Worst case scenario, you can at least get a cool thread with your baddie and a canon.
