 Taste the Rainbow (Castiel)
« Thread Started on Jun 26, 2012, 8:13am »

It was, likely, the oddest dream that Kennedy had ever dreamed.

And it might not have stood out to her really if it hadn't been for the fact that she had dreamed the exact same dream every night for nearly a week now. It wasn't as though the context was anything significant... just some nice-looking guy standing in the middle of a cloud of white smoke staring at her, his mouth moving as if he were saying something. The expression on his face looked as though what he was trying to tell her was pretty urgent, but for some reason his word were muffled, and she could only figure that he couldn't be heard over his technicolor trench-coat, which seemed to glow and swirl around him like a laser light show.

It wasn't until this, the sixth day, that she actually managed to make out a few words: urgent, warehouse, and 12th. The idea of meeting some stranger in an old New York warehouse didn't exactly tickle her fancy, but she knew enough to trust a repetitive dream, and if this guy were in trouble and she didn't do whatever she could to help him, she wouldn't be able to live with herself if something happened.

So that morning, she got herself cleaned up and dressed casual and comfortable and headed downstairs to hail a cab. Morning traffic was awful in Manhattan, but Kennedy was calm as the taxi made its way to its destination. It wasn't like Dream Guy had given her a specific time (and it had been six days since he first appeared in her dream anyway so chances were she was too late anyway). Her stomach turned a little as the driver pulled over at the curb and she pulled out a small wad of cash and handed it to him
. "Thanks. Keep the change," she told him as she exited the vehicle.

The warehouse wasn't anything spectacular. It was the sort of building that people could walk by every day for ten years and never realize it was even there. It was set back a bit in an alley between a coffee shop and a little boutique. Kennedy approached it cautiously, her eyes darting about nervously as she made her way to the door, expecting the doorknob to be locked. However, she found that it opened easily, and she very slowly opened the door, nervously peering inside.

"Hello?" she called. Her voice echoed within the walls of the otherwise silent building. Feeling a bit bolder, she opened the door further and took a careful step inside. "Anyone here?"

The dream wasn’t a coincidence, not at all. Castiel had to do with it, he needed help, Kennedy’s help. The thing was, Cas didn’t want to bother Sam and Dean, not now when they had a lot gong on. He felt the need to bother them with his business was not what they needed. No, so he heard of Kennedy, she was a psychic, and he knew the psychics, not ALL of them, but a lot of them. He also knew she was one of the good ones, and he knew she might know what he was looking for. Also because she was a computer hacker, he thought she might be able to hack some information for him. This was all about a coat. Joseph’s coat....the one from the Bible....Cas needed her help because a demon somehow got a hold of it. He thought she could help him with her psychic ability. He needed her to hack into this demons network to get passwords.

Castiel looked around the warehouse that they met at in the dream. It was nothing special really, but he was attempting not to be obvious to his brothers and sisters. The thing was, Castiel had been hiding from some of them for quite a long time. Not necessarily hiding in a way, but staying distant. Gabriel, in fact, was the one hiding from them. Castiel knew that his brother had a good reason. Before he didn’t understand it but now he had. He was starting to question his orders more and more and more, and he knew that he had to figure things out soon.

Today was the day, he was going to meet Kennedy face to face He wondered if eventually he should talk to Sam and Dean about all this, but for now he was putting that on hold. The war in Heaven was still happening, although things were fine on Earth, Heaven was still in chaos and Cas needed to fix it. He sighed as he looked around the warehouse waiting. What have things come to lately? What have they done to the world? Everything was a mess, and he was just glad they were able to stop Lucifer, because if they hadn’t, well.... things would be ten times worse.

Cas wanted the fighting to stop, he was almost on Gabriel’s side with this one. The monsters they were seeing now were worse then before, and Castiel couldn’t seem to stop it. Castiel turned when he thought he heard someone. “Yes, I am here,” he said answering her question. “I believe that you heard my calling,” he said to her with a smile. “My name is Castiel...” he said to her debating on if he should tell her he was an angel. He decided he should, because it would help maters. “I am an Angel of the Lord...” he added. “I need your help...” he said to her.

It wasn't until the man spoke that she noticed him at all, which was honestly kind of disturbing because he was standing right smack dab in the center of the room. He looked exactly like he had in her dream, with the exception, of course, that his coat was a normal, boring tan and didn't actually look like it had been designed by Crayola. Kennedy approached him carefully, her eyes locked on this strange man, watching him for anything out of the ordinary. He seemed almost robotic. Stepford-like.

And then he opened his mouth, introducing himself as an angel, of all things. An angel?! Kennedy stopped dead in her tracks as soon as he said it, trying to remember being mugged or hit by a runaway cab on her way here, or any time recently. The only explanation for an angel coming to visit her was that she was dead... right?

But she didn't feel dead. In fact, she felt very much alive, a feeling that was only enhanced by the pounding of her heart in her chest. Yes, that was the heart of someone living, breathing, and completely freaked out right now
.

"An angel," she repeated, eyeing him with great suspicion. "... who needs my help... Right..."

Castiel knew he surprised Kennedy, especially by telling her he was an angel. Still, he needed her help, it was vital. He needed her on the computer as soon as he could get her there, but still, how to explain all this to her? He supposed he could have simply asked Sam, maybe it would have been easier, but he knew how good Kennedy was, and he knew that she may have even been smarter with computers.

Castiel approached her slowly and nodded, “Yes, I am an angel of the Lord,” he said ot her quietly. “As I said, my name is Castiel... I need your help locating something...” he knew he needed to get to the story as soon as possible, but he didn’t want to put too much onto her. He had been told by his friends that sometimes he can be a little....awkward and he didn’t want that to happen.

He looked around the room more, it was an interesting place to meet that was for certain. “There is this coat...” he explained, “A coat from Heaven that a demon stole,” he said to her. “I know its a lot to take in....” Castiel told her and paused a minute to let her take it in. “He has
made a password, or passcode of some kind to not allow us to get to it, the coat can be dangerous if it stays in his hands...” Castiel explained.

This was all just too weird, and if Kennedy didn't know any better, she might have tried pinching herself to wake up. Dream Guy was feeding her the most random information, and if she were a less compassionate person, she may have just brushed him off and gone back home. However, she was beginning to feel quite certain that he was effed up in the head somehow, and it wouldn't have been right to just leave him here. There was no telling if this man were a danger to himself or to others... and she couldn't ignore the fact that he had appeared to her in her dream so many nights in a row. He needed her help.

With a soft sigh, Kennedy reached into her bag and pulled out her phone. "Okay, Castiel..." she exaggerated the pronunciation of his name as if to say she were in on the joke. "I'm just going to get you some help." She switched on her phone and started to dial information, not sure that this was enough of an emergency to warrant a 911 call.

Kennedy held the phone to her ear and listened to it ring, locking her eyes on the man before her as he continued to explain his strange predicament, though she was hardly paying attention to his babbling until he mentioned the big D word. The operator on the phone was ignored as Kennedy paled and ended the call, her eyes registering a fear where just before there had been boredom and maybe even a hint of disappointment. "Wait... demon? You want ME to get something from a freaking DEMON?..."

Castiel had the feeling that she didn’t believe him. He had to try to convince her that he was trying to help her, by her helping him. Everything happened for a reason, did it not? Still, he knew THIS reason was because he needed to meet Kennedy and he needed her help hacking into the computer system. As Kennedy told him she was going to get him help Castiel sighed a bit. Of course, not everyone believed what he told them at first. Actually, almost every time he had a ‘mission’ of some sort it seemed there was always someone that needed convincing.

“Help? You are getting me help?” Castiel asked and when she started to take her phone out he knew what she meant. “I am not crazy,” he said to her. “I promise you that...” he sighed not wanting to show her what he really was but knew he might have to. As the operator answered the call Cas waved his hand to the phone to make it hang up on its own. “I’m sorry but we do not have time for that...” he said apologizing.

“You would not even have to face this demon, I just need help getting into his hideout, where the coat is....I need someone to hack through the symbols that he made to stop us from getting it...” he said to her. “Can you help me?” he asked. “Or will you force me to show you proof of who or what I am?” he asked her.

Again, Castiel didn’t WANT to do that, but he knew he had to. For some reason, it seemed to be the way things went. People found it easy enough to believe in Demons, but when it came to Angels...they just needed proof. At least, thats how Dean was anyway. Castiel didn’t want to just take out his wings though, he waited a minute to see what her answer would be, if she said no, then he would show her more proof if he had to.

Kennedy frowned when her phone clicked off, her brow furrowing as she looked at the display. "What the hell?" she muttered, but the sudden change in Castiel's tone tore her attention back to him. This guy was actually serious.

"Okay," she said finally, folding her arms across her chest and regarding him thoughtfully. "Let's say you're telling the truth. Why on Earth would you need MY help getting something from a demon? I mean, if you're really an angel, why can't you just get it yourself?"

She hoped that challenging this guy wasn't going to put her in deep danger. While not a highly religious person herself, she was open-minded when it came to the existence of certain creatures out there. It was hard not to be when you had seen what she had seen. And if angels were as powerful as they were supposed to be, she did NOT want to piss this guy off. Maybe it would be best if she rephrased that last bit...

"I mean... I'm just saying. I'm just... you know, me. And you're like..." She made a sweeping gesture toward him. "...you. What in the world could I possibly do that you couldn't do better?"

Castiel knew that people were shocked usually when they saw him, and especially when they found out WHAT he was. He knew that Kennedy must have had quite a few more questions to ask him. He turned to look at her a moment... “I made the phone do that...” Castiel said to her. “It is part of what I could do,” he explained knowing that she would need a LOT more explanation then that. He really hated to have to do that, but he knew that it was coming to that, it usually did.

Castiel sighed as she asked more questions they didn’t really have time for, but he knew that he would have to answer them. “I AM telling the Truth,” Castiel said to her. “The reason I need a humans help is because there are symbols that can keep angels away...” Castiel told her. “This demon has used those symbols, so therefor I can not just crack his code...” he explained. “I need help breaking the passcode so we can get the coat back...” Castiel told her.

“What you can do better is find the code...” he was making sure he answered all her questions. “I can not do that because of the symbols he put around it...I need help...before its to late...” Castiel said with a sigh. “Do you need me to show you more proof? Then I will....” he said and nodded and stepped back.

He does not like to do this very often but he did it for Kennedy knowing that he might not get her help otherwise. He looked at her and nodded, “Brace yourself...” he said and then slowly let his wings out. He sighed and waited for her to scream or something, but he hoped that wasn’t the case. His wings were black, not white like most humans perceived them, and he couldn’t help how they looked, but he knew some humans generally freaked out when they saw the black wings.
