Blair held her flashlight with a tight grip and peered into the darkness of the abandoned Asylum she was in. Multiple people had gone missing here and it was her mission to find out why and how.
Deep inside she could feel the tug of spirits trapped in this hell hole. Her sixth sense was tingling and she didn't know just yet if it was a good or bad thing. Tortured souls like these were very hard to predict.
Her cowboy boots made a heavy clanking noise against the aged wooden floors. The light guiding her carefully searching the floor for rotten places. It wouldn't do any good if she fell through the floor boards her Father would never let her live it down.
Although it has been awhile since his last contact she knew he was alive and kicking. He was probably at the ranch kicking back and enjoying a few beers.
By the heavens above she missed him..but Blair pushed that feeling out of her mind and focused on where she was walking to. As a stair case became closer and closer she heard footsteps from up above...
Her hand drew near her gun as she climbed the staircase in a cautious manner. The pitter patter of her heart could be heard from her chest but her breathes were calm and steady. As Blair reached the landing she peeked her head out to see the darken hallways. Nothing.
It wasn't until she reached a room a bat pop out of nowhere and she let out a shriek. She hated those damn things they were so ugly....they were right up there with snakes.
Blair laughed it off and continued down the hallway. Her flashlight shined on the head Doctor's office and her hand reached to the doorknob.Using her foot to push the door open and she silently crept inside.
The Doctor's desk was easy to break into and she read his personal journal that detailed his experiments. It was when she looked up from reading it did she finally notice some whispers and a flashlight moving in the dark hallway. Blair quickly hid under the desk and hoped who ever it was passed by.

Sofia was not thrilled with the idea of visiting an asylum. Hospitals of any kind tended to make her nervous. But this one was old and in her research she'd learned there had been many deaths and disappearances under its roof. It was sure to be haunted by a number of spirits, and most likely unpleasant ones. If spirits did in fact exist, which was something she was never fully convinced of.
She took several minutes walking around the outside of the building with her camera taking pictures of the exterior. The building even looked creepy from the outside, and the longer she looked at it from behind her camera lens, the less she wanted to go inside.
She took her time outside, dragging her feet and working more slowly than she needed to. Finally, she picked up her back pack from where she'd dropped it and headed toward the front entrance. It was locked, as she'd expected, but it couldn't hurt to try. She began to walk around the building again, this time searching for another way in.
After a few minutes of careful consideration, Sofia decided a first floor window somewhere near the back of the building would be the best option. She wondered if this place had any security alarms in place. From what she'd read the building had long ago been abandoned and fallen into disrepair, so that seemed unlikely.
Once she found a window she looked around the area for something to break it with. She found a good sized rock without too much trouble, positioned herself a few feet from the window, took a deep breath, and threw the rock. It hit the glass, but didn't quite break it. A web of cracks etched across the pane as the rock fell to the ground. Sofia sighed.
"That wasn't quite what I wanted, but I guess it will have to do," she muttered.
She shrugged out of her back pack and set it down on the ground then removed her denim jacket and wrapped it around her arm. She approached the window and elbowed the window until most of the glass had shattered. She used her jacket to rid the bottom part of the window frame of most of the glass, then laid it over the bottom ledge like a blanket. She tossed her backpack inside and heard it land and hung her camera around her neck by the strap, cradling it with one hand as she climbed awkwardly through the window and into the room. She slid off the sill on the other side and landed on the floor, blinking in the darkness. She fumbled with her back pack, finding the zipper of its largest pocket with her fingers. After a few moments she found her flashlight and turned it on.
As Sofia looked around she figured she must have been in one of the offices. She set her back pack down on the desk, which was covered in dust. She found her camera bag inside, opened it and found her attachable flashbulb, which would offer extra light. It took her a few minutes to attach it to her camera in the dark. Once she did she took a few shots of the room.
Sofia walked through the first floor of the hospital, disliking the dank feel of the air and the smell of mildew. She explored a few rooms, but most doors were locked. Mostly she took photos of the hallways. She found an elevator, but even if it were working she wouldn't have trusted it with the general state of the building. She moved past it and soon found a stairwell. After taking a few more photos she headed up.
The second floor was even more unsettling than the first had been. She got a heavy feeling before she reached the landing, like the air was thickening. It made her uneasy, but she continued on, walking out into a hallway with floors that creaked beneath her feet. Some of the wood was rotting. She could see that as she shined the flashlight over the floor ahead.
"Oh, boy," she muttered. "Better walk carefully."
She walked along very tentatively, daring to take a photo only when she was confident she was standing on a fairly solid part of the floor.

Blair tried not to breath or even move when whoever came inside. Was she hallucinating when she saw a camera flash? Great, all she needed was an amateur ghost hunter screwing her investigation up. The last time she ran into ghost hunters they had no clue what they were doing nor what they were messing with. Boy at the end of the night they vowed never to ghost hunt again. She snorted at that memory and climbed out of her hiding spot when the coast was clear.
Blair dusted her self out and peeked outside the outside door to make sure whoever was in the Asylum was out of sight. She made a left down the hallway to continue on and was careful of the rotting floors. She couldn't help but wonder what happen here in the past....what secrets these walls kept. Her body jumped when there was a large crash somewhere down in there right wing. Her reaction was to go to it and see what it was. It got colder but she couldn't see anything yet. Blair sighed when she saw it was just a broken window.
Probably just some kids, Blair turned and came back from the way she came from. That's when she saw another flash light that wasn't hers. Blair hide in the nursing station and turned off her flashlight. She hoped that person didn't run into her.
However it was long before she felt something very fimiliar and it was a good fimiliar. It was a rather nasty dark spirit and it was starting to follow that woman around. Blair groaned and she turned on her flash light and threw some holy water at the ghost. Then she made the sign of the cross and reciteted this: "The light of God surrounds us, The love of God enfolds us, The power of God protects us, The presence of God watches over us, Wherever we are, God is, And where God is, all is well.
St. Matthew, St. Mark, St. Luke, St. John, Like unto the prophet Jonas, as a type of Christ, Who was guarded for three days and Three nights in the belly of a whale, Thus shall the Almighty God, As a Father, guard and protect me from all evil."
The spirit poofed and she turned the flashlight on whoever was there. The Texan tapped her foot and slurred out in her tex tongue," It's a good thing I was here or that spirit would have gotten you. "
As Sofia made her way down the hallway, occasionally snapping a picture or two, she had the feeling once again that the air around her was thicker somehow. It must be the dank air and the mildew, she reasoned to herself. But, when one was photographing an allegedly haunted house in the dark, reason didn’t always prevail.
Sofia tried to walk a little faster, but the unreliable floor made that difficult to do. She shivered as she felt a sudden chill all around her. There must have been a draft running through the building. Her breath fogged up in front of her mouth, the way it would have if she was standing outside during a blizzard. If an area was allegedly haunted, cold spots were considered indicators of the presence of spirits. Sofia took a few pictures of the hallway in front of her. She paused when she heard a woman’s voice echoing through the hall.
“The light of God surrounds us, The love of God enfolds us, The power of God protects us, The presence of God watches over us, Wherever we are, God is, And where God is, all is well.”
Sofia turned around and searched the area with her flashlight, snapping a few photos as she did so. She ventured back down the hallway as the voice continued.
“St. Matthew, St. Mark, St. Luke, St. John, Like unto the prophet Jonas, as a type of Christ, Who was guarded for three days and Three nights in the belly of the whale, Thus shall the Almight God, As a Father, guard and protect me from all evil.”
Sofia came upon the young woman as she finished the prayer. Was there something in front of her? No, now there didn’t appear to be. Sofia’s eyes must have been playing tricks on her in the dark. Yes, that must have been it. At least, she tried to convince herself of that to keep from running back to the stairs and falling through the floor.
“It’s a good thing I was here of that spirit would have gotten you,” the young woman said, turning around.
Sofia gave a slight gasp of surprise.
“Oh… What do you mean the spirit would have ‘gotten me?’” she asked.
She wasn’t sure how she felt about the existence or non-existence of spirits. That was what she was trying to find out by taking her photos. Also, it was a good way to make money sometimes if she actually managed to capture anything that looked suspicious. She’d never heard of a spirit ‘getting’ anyone.
